 Establishing its programme for Corporate Social Responsibility. Chescor Capital acted as a Founder Sponsor to create the Youth Orchestra of the Middle East.
The first one week residential course was held between 3rd -10th April 2009, on the campus of Dubai College. Invitations were sent to 100+ schools across Middle East, and 60 musicians attended from 6 countries – the UAE, Bahrain, KSA, Oman, Qatar, and Yemen. Guests also attended from UK youth orchestras. The orchestra was led by a top UK professional youth orchestra conductor, supported by 12 instrumental tutors from the UK and the UAE. Following five days of intensive preparation and rehearsal (8 hours a day), there were two concerts – in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The first year was an immense success and preparations are underway for the next year’s course. |
